The 1st match of the 2020 ACC Western Region T20 in Group A will be played between Maldives and Qatar at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground Oman Cricket (Ministry Turf 1).
The match starts at 9:30 AM local time (5:30 AM GMT) (11:00 PM IST).
The ACC Western Region T20 will kick start on Sunday with the Maldives facing Qatar in the first of the four matches to be played in the day. The 8 teams featuring in the tournament are divided into two groups – A and B. Maldives and Qatar are part of the Group A alongside Bahrain and hosts Oman. This tournament heads into the qualification for the Asia Cup to be held shortly before the Men’s T20 World Cup later this year. Qatar is fresh of a 3-0 series win at home in a 3-match T20I series against Uganda.
Sunday morning is expected to be bright and sunny at the Al Amerat Ministry Turf 1 ground.
The Ministry Turf 1 ground in Al Amerat has produced assistance for the pacers early on. If the bowling first team fails to capitalize on that, they are likely to end up losing the game as the pitch here tends to get slowdown from the 2nd half. It won’t be easy to chase targets in excess of 150 here.
Average first innings score: 146 (Last 5 T20 matches played in the morning)
Record of chasing teams: Won – 2, Lost – 3

Qatar did not make any formal announcement regarding the squad for the tournament. They did announce a squad for the recent Uganda T20I series at home but rested some of the senior players through the 3-match series. Hence, we except Qatar to take the field with the XIs utilized in the Uganda series that too by adding the senior stars.
Qatar is a much stronger team compared to the Maldives and hence they are expected to win this match.
