Over the years, one of the most glamorous and exciting games to watch in the BBL has been the clash between Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers. The two most successful franchises in BBL history, Scorchers and Sixers might not provide a game of the same intensity, but there will be no dearth in drama. Perth Scorchers, quite uncharacteristically, find themselves at the bottom of the table. They are missing some crucial players like the Marsh brothers, but they still have quality in the squad.
It will be interesting to see how they will end the BBL after an indifferent start to the season as they still have a chance of making it to the knockouts. Sydney Sixers are currently fourth on the table with 8 points and are firmly one of the favourites for the title. Their squad doesn’t have any of the prominent names, but they have some effective players who are doing their bits nicely. Henriques and his side will find it difficult to go all the way, but one cannot rule out their chance completely.
Pitch and Weather
A cloudy and windy weather awaits the players on the Western coast of Australia. The chances of an uninterrupted game are close to zero, but the fans would be hopeful of getting a result. Batting once again will be a hard task at the new Perth Stadium and a low-scoring thriller might be on cards for the fans.
Cameron Bancroft was back with a bang after serving a suspension and he will attempt to continue the good run. Michael Klinger will open alongside him with skipper Turner, Agar and Cartwright coming in the middle order. Andrew Tye will be their biggest strength with the ball and will be accompanied by Coulter-Nile, Ashton Agar and Aaron Hardie.
Probable XI: David Willey, Michael Klinger, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Usman Qadir, William Bosisto, Cameron Bancroft (wk), Ashton Turner (C), Ashton Agar, Hilton Cartwright, Andrew Tye, Aaron Hardie
English veteran Joe Denly will open for the Sixers with Justin Avendano. Daniel Hughes, skipper Henriques, Jordan Silk and Josh Philippe will form the middle order with two good strikers in Tom Curran and Sean Abbott to follow. Manenti and Dwarshuis are going to be crucial yet again alongside the two strike bowlers Curran and Abbott. Steve O’Keefe is their only spinning option for this encounter.
Probable XI: Moises Henriques (c), Joe Denly, Steve O’Keefe, Sean Abbott, Daniel Hughes, Jordan Silk, Tom Curran, Ben Dwarshuis, Josh Philippe (wk), Justin Avendano, Ben Manenti
