India vs Bangladesh, 2019: 2-match Test series – Statistical Preview

After a hard-fought T20I series, Bangladesh will now face India in a 2-match Test series starting on Thursday in Indore. The 2nd game of this series will be the day/night affair at the Eden Gardens. It will be the first-ever D/N Test match for both the teams. Bangladesh will be looking to register their maiden Test win against India as they did it during the T20I series. However, against a full-strength Indian team, Bangladesh’s first appearance in the World Test Championship could start with big defeats.

5 – India won each of their last five matches in Test cricket. If India wins the series against Bangladesh by 2-0 margin, they will register their longest winning streak in Test cricket surpassing the streak of 6 consecutive wins in 2013.
7/9 – India and Bangladesh clashed off in nine Test matches thus far with the former team winning in seven of them while another two matches ending in a draw after losing quite a bit of time due to rain. However, the two teams met only once in a Test match on Indian soil – in Hyderabad, 2017 which India won by 208 runs.
7-0 – India won all the seven International matches they played at the Holkar Stadium in Indore which will host the first game of this series. India won five ODIs they played here and a Test match against New Zealand in 2016 and also a T20I against Sri Lanka in 2017.
50 – Both Mushfiqur Rahim (56.16) and Mahmudullah (55.4) average more than 50 with the bat in Test cricket against India. Rahim scored 337 runs across seven innings with help of two centuries including one in India. Mahmudullah struck three fifties in six Test innings against India scoring 277 runs.
249 – Number of wickets for Ravichandran Ashwin in Test cricket on Indian soil from only 41 matches. He needs one more wicket to become the 3rd Indian to claim 250 Test wickets at home. Ravindra Jadeja is also one wicket away from completing 250 International wickets in India.
398 – Number of sixes Rohit Sharma has hit in all formats of International cricket thus far. Rohit needs two more sixes to become the first Indian and only the 3rd player to hit 400 International maximums.
Chris Gayle (534) and Shahid Afridi (476) are the only players to have hit 400+ sixes in International cricket so far. Rohit is currently tied on 3rd position with Brendon McCullum and will become the fastest to 400 sixes when he hits those two.
4968 – Virat Kohli needs 32 more runs to become the first Indian captain and only the 6th overall to complete 5000 runs in Test cricket. The Indian skipper will also become the quickest to 5000 Test runs as captain whenever he scores those 32 runs in this series.
14934 – Cheteshwar Pujara needs 66 more runs to complete 15000 runs in first-class cricket. He amassed 14934 runs from 192 matches with 49 Test tons and 52 fifties ahead of the series against Bangladesh.
