India completed a historic 3-0 whitewash of the visiting South Africans with another comprehensive performance, one that gave the victory by an innings and 202 runs. This was India’s first-ever whitewash of the Proteas and the Virat Kohli-led team also became the first side to inflict back-to-back follow-on on the South Africans in the past 16 years besides becoming only the second team in history to declare all innings & bowl the opponent out in all innings of the same 3-match Test series.

Courtesy a clinical win in the third Test in Ranchi, Team India claimed 40 crucial points to consolidate their numero uno spot as far as the ICC Test Championship is concerned. The Men in Blue will get a chance to add 120 more points to their tally when Bangladesh plays two Tests in November but before that Kohli’s men will be involved in a three-match T20I series, starting November 03.

24th October – Date for the squad selection

And, as per the source quoted by India Today, the squad for the three-match Twenty20 series is set to be announced on the 24th of October. The BCCI will usher in a new era on October 23 when Sourav Ganguly-led administrative panel will assume office.

According to the BCCI source, regular captain Virat Kohli could be given a break from the T20Is considering he has played every single game since India’s heartbreaking semi-final defeat to New Zealand at Old Trafford back in July.

“This meeting will be crucial as its happening right after the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of BCCI. Captain Virat Kohli who is playing continuously will be given rest or not is still a question because as of now there is no confirmation from the selection panel. Also, Sourav Ganguly is likely to meet Kohli on the sidelines of the meeting.” added the source.

The source also added that BCCI President is likely to meet skipper Virat Kohli on the sidelines of the Annual General Meeting (AGM). Ganguly had previously stated that he’ll be meeting Kohli as well as the selectors to know their thoughts about Dhoni’s cricket future.
