After missing the fourth and final Test in Sydney, Rohit Sharma is back in Australia after meeting his family. He and his wife Ritika Sajdeh were blessed with a baby girl on December 30 whom they have named Samaira. Rohit joined India squad on January 8 along with the likes of MS Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav and Khaleel Ahmed. He fronted the media for the first time since entering the newest phase of his life and was left surprised with an Indian journalist gifting him a toy in the press conference.

Ahead of the first ODI which will be played on January 12 in Sydney, Rohit spoke to the media about team combinations and also his feeling about becoming a father. However, what followed after the end of the presser left him surprised. The Indian journalist Sunandan Lele gifted him a small toy and congratulated India’s limited-overs vice-captain on becoming a father.

The heartwarming gesture from the journalist made Rohit Sharma smile and also thanked the reporters present over there.

Indoor practice session for Team India

In the meantime, the rain in Sydney continues to hamper India’s preparations for the ODI series after denying them a 3-1 Test series win earlier this week. The rain forced the visitors to train indoor as every team member took part in the session on Thursday. While Rohit Sharma fronted the media two days ahead of the game, Virat Kohli will address them on Friday and according to the new tradition, will also announce the 12-man squad for the series opener.

The Men in Blue will be keen on ending the tour on a high after levelling the T20I and winning the Test series. Having said that, their main objective will be to fine-tune the things with the World Cup not far away which will be played in England from May 30.
