MS Dhoni is a fan-favourite across the globe not only for his cricketing exploits but also for his down to earth and humble nature. The 37-year old’s achievements as both a batsman and captain are unparalleled. But the former Indian skipper, who reached the pinnacle from a very humble background, has not forgotten his roots. A recent video going viral across social media pretty much proves that.

The World Cup-winning skipper made the day for an 87-year old fan in Australia. After sweating it out in the practice session ahead of the first ODI, the legendary cricketer met a veteran fan with a big smile on his face. Despite being tired, Dhoni made sure to give enough time to the lady who looked awestruck. He talked the woman before posing for photos as the fan watched her favourite cricketer in awe.

Watching Dhoni interact with fans casually is not new. He has always given importance to his fans and thus the number is in millions across the world. Perhaps this is one of the reasons, there has been no dip in his fan-following despite his recent struggles with the bat.

Here is the clip of Dhoni interacting with his 87-year-old fan:

Under-fire Dhoni needs to deliver

Dhoni, meanwhile, will mean business when he takes to field in the upcoming ODI series. The right-handed batsman has been under immense pressure to deliver with the bat after his prolonged lack of form. With the World Cup not very far away, some handy outings in Australia and New Zealand could help Dhoni ease the pressure off himself. With Rishabh Pant in great form at this moment, another lean run could cost Dhoni dear.

He was earlier omitted from India’s T20I squad for the series against Windies and Australia. However, the selectors recalled him for the assignments against Australia and New Zealand. The three-match ODI series against Australia gets underway on January 12 in Sydney.
