KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya are waiting for the BCCI’s verdict over their controversial comments on the talk show Koffee with Karan. Both of them were sent show cause notices by the board after their misogynist remarks had left many fuming after which the CoA chief Vinod Rai had recommended two-match ODI ban on the duo. However, it seems that Rahul might escape the ban now with only a warning from the board.
Vinod Rai had given a go ahead for the suspension of two cricketers and was waiting for the Diana Edulji’s approval. She had earlier advocated for the ban as well but she surprisingly sought for a legal advice on the matter which has kept the Indian team also waiting ahead of the first ODI against Australia.
Hardik to be punished
According to the reports in Mumbai Mirror, Hardik Pandya might face a ban while his partner in Rahul who didn’t open up much on the show might be reprimanded only. The latter had only revealed that he was partying until late night in Miami before the T20I against the Windies and then went on to score a century on the match day.
However, Pandya’s comments were more under the scanner as he got ‘carried away’ according to his apology statement on social media. He also mentioned that he is sincerely regretful of the same in a response to the BCCI’s show cause notice which hasn’t satisfied the CoA chief.
Moreover, even Virat Kohli and the team has distanced themselves from the duo saying that their comments are individual opinions and the dressing room doesn’t support it at all. “It does nothing to the spirit that we’ve been able to create within the change room and these are purely individual opinions and something as I said which is in an inappropriate. We definitely as the Indian cricket team do not support views like that and that has been communicated and that is that,” Kohli said in the pre-match presser.
