India and England are currently locking horns with each other in a three-match ODI series. The first match was won by the Men in Blue by eight wickets. Kuldeep Yadav’s masterful spell of bowling followed by Rohit Sharma’s 18th ODI century helped the visiting team to a 1-0 lead in the series. The second match is presently being played at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground.
Virat Kohli and his men have outclassed the Brits in every department. The English batsmen haven’t scored a single century while India’s batters already have three tons to their name. KL Rahul scored one at Old Trafford in Manchester and Rohit Sharma followed it up with a couple in Bristol and Nottingham respectively. The English batters have notched fifties, but haven’t been able to convert.
The Indian bowlers have also been lethal, especially Kuldeep Yadav. The chinaman started his campaign with a five-wicket haul and ripped apart England’s batting lineup. In the first ODI, he came into his own and picked up a six-for. Moreover, he made own a number of records. The English bowlers were stupendous when they played against Australia prior to India’s tour.
India’s sheer dominance
However, they haven’t been able to put the skids under the Indian batsmen. Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid wrecked havoc in the Australian batting lineup and turned out to be the joint-highest wicket-taker in the ODI series. Nevertheless, they haven’t quite been able to weave their magic against the belligerent Indian cricketers. In the first four matches, Morgan’s men picked up only 12 wickets.
On the contrary, Virat and Co racked up 32 wickets in as many matches. Tom Moody, the former Australian all-rounder, reckons that the Three Lions need to alter their tactics in order to dictate terms to the opposition batters.
He took to Twitter and wrote, “For England to compete against this powerful Indian team they must find a way to take wickets, looking to contain will never work! #ENGvsIND”
